Approximately 7,000 Austrian pensioners completed their organised holidays in Cyprus on Tuesday.
The pensioners are members of the Austria Pensioners Federation (PVO), and their trip to Cyprus was organised by a subsidiary of the Austrian Socialist Party in cooperation with the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO).
Residing mostly in the Ayia Napa/Protaras area, the pensioners visited various regions of Cyprus, enjoying the opportunity of seeing the island off-season.
The visit of the pensioners to the island was beneficial, stimulating the tourist market during the off-season period, and promoting Cyprus in the Austrian market.
This successful organisation of the first such trip proves, says the CTO, the ability of Cyprus to host tourists outside of the summer season.
A trip with Austrian pensioners will be repeated in Spring 2018, says the CTO
